Ripe Deli, Takapuna
If your cravings have hit you in the middle of the work day then there’s no better place to be than Ripe Deli, their choices on cakes and slices are worth ogling over. If inspiration hits you mid sugar rush, purchase their recipe book which is always available beside the cake counter, and attempt making these amazing dishes in your own home.
In 3 different locations across Auckland, Ripe Deli also offers catering, frozen meals as well as whole cakes if you happen to have forgotten a family members birthday.
Recommended Dishes
Start off with something savory like the breakfast bap from the Ripe Deli cabinet, then treat yourself to a slice of any of their cakes. The flavours frequently change but I can assure you they taste as good as they look.
Chocolate Boutique Café, Parnell
Chocolate boutique café has been the Queen of Auckland Desserts for as long as I can remember. From warm sticky date puddings and chocolate lava cakes drenched in melting ice cream, to vegan hot fudge pudding and apple crumble. This dessert restaurant in Auckland has something for everyone, pop by on a chilly night and you will find lines out the door of people wanting to heart the cockles of their hearts with a plate full of diabetes and a cup of tea.
Opening in 1996 as a pop up shop and then settling at their current location they have called home for over 20 years, U.S President Bill Clinton visited in 1999 to which Chocolate Boutique received a personalized thank you letter from the President, officially putting Chocolate Boutique on the world map. As well as a cafe, Chocolate Boutiques shop comes stocked with gift boxes, chocolate blocks and chocolate pieces available for individual purchase.
Recommended Dishes
Anything is good on the Chocolate Boutique menu, but my go-to will always be the hot fudge cake. A warm dessert on a cold winters evening is one of my favourite past times.
The Black Antler Eatery, Browns Bay

Black Antler Eatery in Browns Bay is the best dessert spot in Auckland and one of the best pubs on Aucklands North Shore. This Browns Bay pub is the perfect restaurant in Auckland where you can get the best of both worlds; indulge on a monster milkshake while your partner can feast on beers and burgers. The menu is overflowing with dessert straight out of Willy Wonkas chocolate factory; share a plate of dessert nachos, be selfish with your own plate of biscoff pancakes or any of their wild shakes, which inadvertently will give you the wild shakes from a sugar high.
The dessert nachos are one to share, unless you want to test yourself and your bodies ability to consume sugar. The pancakes are always a great choice, both coming topped with ice cream, or treat yourself to a milk shake garnished with full sized chocolate bars or sugary slices.
Recommended Dishes
Anything and everything on the menu gets my approval. But I do highly recommend the dessert nachos, biscoff pancakes and Ferrero shake.
Cocomo, Auckland City

Looking for a coconut based sweet treat? Look no further than this dessert spot in Auckland CBD; Cocomo on Lorne Street, serving delectable coconut-based drinks and puddings with a range of flavours to suit everyone’s palates. Crème Brulee for the sweat tooths to matcha cloud for those who love the taste of grass.
The best thing about Cocomo is their dishes are takeaway, coming in a glass jar with a lid you can easily transport your coconut dessert to work, home or to the park to enjoy as a refreshing treat on a summers afternoon.
The interior design of Cocomo is sleek and clean, pristine white walls with grey curved booths which is perfect for anyone’s instagram stories.

Scrunchy Millers is the go to quick and easy dessert spot on Aucklands’ north shore. This extremely popular ice cream bar in Milford has a large assortment of dessert options from real fruit to gelato, and sundaes to ice cream cakes. Their flavours will have you coming back for more or even topping your cone with multiple different flavours of gelato. The delicious range of flavours include Ferrero Rocher, candy floss, pistachio and lemon meringue to only name a few. Careful bringing your children here, you will never hear the end of their begging to come back.

I highly recommend opting for gelato in a cone if your diet allows it, and choosing any of the chocolate choices with large chocolate chunks.
Boozylato, Ponsonby

I can’t have a list of the best desserts in Auckland without listing one which incorporates alcohol into the mix. Add a little bit of spice to your dessert by choosing your own liqueur to drizzle on top of your ice cream. Boozylato in Ponsonby is where you can mix your favourite gelato flavours with your choice of alcoholic spirits.
